Trick Question
For the first time in three months, the answer to this blog's title question is two-fold: Anna is back in NYC and Kim is back in Indonesia. Anna is enjoying reacquainting herself with waiters that understand exactly what she wants, no matter how fast she rattles off her order, and Kim is treating herself to three more weeks of avoiding the real world.
Some fun facts from our travels:
Most expensive internet access: Swissotel in Sydney ($12/hour)
Cheapest internet access: Telecommunications hut in Colombo, Sri Lanka ($.50/hour)
Best food find: Tim Tams, without a doubt
Most startling moment: Either when Anna saw her first kangaroo (Kim can do an imitation) or our encounter with the friendly nudist in Byron Bay
Best local beer: Lion (Sri Lanka), if only for the logo and tag line: "Do you have a Lion in you?")
Best rental car: Starlet (New Zealand)
Worst hostel experience: Portland, Australia (Great Ocean Road); we had no idea a human could snore like that
Best people watching: The couple dancing to the cover band at the bar in Byron
Best t-shirt saying: "Punk My Blood" on a local girl in a market in Bali
Best hotel experience: Begawan Giri (Bali), without a doubt
Best excuse for any strange behavior on our part: It's the Lariam/Malarone
Best interpretive dancing (other than us in the dunes): The John Deer-obsessed Kiwi at the bar in Hokatika
Coldest: London (February)
Hottest: After our 1 hour trek turned into a 2 1/2 hour trek in East Bali, midday, with no water
Strangest mishap: The truck/motorbike minor accident in the sand dunes of South Australia
Second strangest mishap: The bold bird in Byron Bay which set off a chain of events that ended in minor scars on Kim's knee and elbow
More to come...
